Photo Album Deal

One thing I'm kind of OCD about is having photos dated, labeled and organized in photo albums.  I've been really good the past 8 years putting our photos into albums and hope that I can keep up with Dutch around, but finding time to dedicate to that has already been a challenge.  Hopefully I can work on Dutch's albums this weekend.  I've only got about 500 pics to put in albums, but at least I have the photos labeled and dated already.

My favorite photo of Dutch so far.  If anyone wants to jazz it up in photo shop feel free. ha!

Somehow when we got married I started ordering photo albums from Exposures.  We have the Memo photo albums for our regular and vacation photos.  They are kind of pricey so I only buy them in the summer when they are on super sale.  Anyway for several weeks I've been trying to figure out what to do about Dutch's photo albums,  group his photos with ours or start his own albums for now.  I looked at Hobby Lobby, Target and Walmart at their albums and didn't find anything I was in love with.  I didn't want to spend the $ on the albums to match ours but I decided to give one last look to Exposures and found the Tan Leather Gold Spined photo album on super super sale.  Like $4.99 sale and they hold 300 photos each!

While I would have preferred the darker leather, I was able to get 4 of these for $26.95 including shipping!  Cheaper than the other stores I looked at.  I received them yesterday and am really happy with the quality and thinking about buying a few more.  So if you are in need of some good quality photo albums for cheap check these out.  I got an email this morning with this code 40643500122 for free shipping, no minimum order.

Cheers to organized photos!
ok have to add this photo of me and Dutch while I am working on ordering photos.  My favorite cute pic of him.  And his feet are huge.

Dutch's Baby Dedication

Yesterday Dutch turned 8 weeks old and y'all he is so sweet and precious.

At almost exactly 8 weeks to the minute Dutch was born, we dedicated him to God pledging to raise him for God's glory.  It took 3 years for Dutch to get in our arms and God has blessed us with more than we could have dreamed of through Dutch.

My family came down to Auburn for Dutch's baby dedication.  We loved having them there to share this special time.

Too bad Dutchie doesn't get any attention!

My sisters with Dutch

After church we had a bbq lunch (we fancy like that) and Dutch's first every cookie cake!

My mom made Dutch's gown. It is beautiful and I am so proud of it, something to treasure forever. The pattern is Creations by Miche` 112. We made it big so I can have an heirloom portrait made when he can sit up. I'm not sure if I will be able to wait that long, the dress fit pretty well.

The verses that we picked for Dutch are Numbers 6:24-26 - The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you: the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

These 2 verses were also considered.

Joshua 1:9 - Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Luke 2:40 - And the Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.

Back to Work

And just like that I'm back at work today and Dutch is enjoying his 1st day of daycare. (hopefully!)
haha he didn't look too excited this morning did he!

It feels like I was just on a week vacation and came back to work. I've come in a few times to work on a few things but it is odd to be at my desk again without a belly. I'm just kind of blah about being back at work. I have known all along that I would be back so I guess that makes it a little easier? I don't know, I can't do anything about it so there is no use in waisting my time worrying about it. With me working we can hopefully still go on good vacations with Dutch and send him to college.
gah hearts are melting everywhere with that smile!

But of course this past week Dutch has upped the cuteness. I've been able to get things done around the house because he is good at playing in his bouncy seat without me sitting beside him. Yesterday when I put him in it he started to squeel at the birds that hang down. It is really easy to get a smile out of him now and he loves to talk. Oh and he grew in his leg hair and can burp on his own. Important milestones for a man! I was just getting really comfortable taking him places and taking him on longer walks. He has gotten so snuggly so yesterday when he took a 3 hour nap on me I didn't mind one bit. Really going to miss this view.

Dutch weeks 4,5,6

This week is the last full week of my maternity leave.  I'm trying to enjoy every second with my sweet boy.  I've been trying to get him on more of a schedule, sometimes it works sometimes I just let him do whatever he wants because he is only 6 weeks old.  He is a pretty good sleeper at night.  The only problem is that he grunts and squeaks a ton and it is so loud.  It is so loud and keeps us up.  So instead of being awake because of a fussy baby, we are awake because of a grunting sleeping baby!  Anyone else's baby do that in their sleep.  If so how old were they when they outgrew it?  Hopefully 6 weeks :)

Here are a few of my fav pics from week 4, 5 & now we are on 6 weeks.  I'm a little confused on how to organize pictures of Dutch.  Should I put them in our family albums or a separate album for him?  How do you organize your photos?

Claire is the best big sis.  I usually call her Nanny because she is always right there with me.  I don't trust her to leave them alone but she is so much better behaved than we thought she would be.  4 weeks 7/29/13

Dutchie enjoying the flowers - 4 weeks 7-29-13

Love my mornings with Dutch.  4 weeks 7-31-13

Dutch and his buddy Andrew.  They are 9 weeks apart.  4 weeks 8-2-13

Dutch was tired of his passy so he took it out of his mouth!  5 weeks 8/3/13

My parents came to visit 5 weeks 8/6/13.  Dutch's face is hilarious in this picture!

At 5 weeks Dutch's belly button was healed and he was able to take his first bath.  He loved it! 8/7/13

You can't tell from the expression, but Dutch's favorite thing is to lay on his changing table and kick his feet. 6 weeks. 8/11/13.

Tummy time drop out.  5 weeks 8/7/13.

Pregnancy Portrait

Push presents.  Something that women made up to get another reward for carrying and giving birth to their baby.  I mean isn't the baby technically enough?  Yes but I wanted something to remember this special time so along came my Dutch keepsake (I like the sound of that better).  For Valentine's Day Eric gave me a pearl ring to represent Dutch's birthstone.  I love that ring and one day hope to give it to Dutch's wife.  And since my birthstone is a pearl as well I have a ton of pearl jewelry and was wanting something a little different.  We didn't have maternity photos made because I was afraid they would be like engagement photos, forgotten once the main event came along.  Instead Eric took a few snapshots of me one day when I was 36 weeks pregnant wearing his favorite dress I have.  For my Dutch keepsake this photo was turned into this painting by Sarah at Mad About Hue.

Sarah was so easy to work with and posted updates on her facebook page.  This is how the painting started and honestly I would have been happy with this sketch.

Then I saw the photo on the left and thought my face is brown but then I saw the next photo and gasped because it looks just. like. me!

When she sent me an email with a photo of the final product I cried because it is so dang realistic.

Is it sort of weird to have a painting of yourself?  Maybe but this is one of my favorite possessions.  I hope that one day Dutch cherishes this portrait of just me and him.   I am so blessed to be able become pregnant.  Every day I would ask Eric can you believe I pregnant, look at this baby growing.  And everyday he would say do you forget everyday that you are pregnant because we have this conversation every day.  It was just amazing and I will always cherish the time that it was just "us" and I was the only one that Dutch knew and him growing inside of me was all that I knew.

Eventually I would like to have the painting framed but for now she is in this frame from Hobby Lobby.  Getting to the frame shop is a little challenging these days!

If you are wanting a special portrait for your home please check out Sarah's shop Mad About Hue.  She is so easy to work with and posts updates on her facebook page so you can follow along.  How awesome would it be to have her mad skills.
