Christmas Card 2013

Just stopping in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.  I think it goes without saying we got our favorite gift this year.

This Christmas has been our favorite one yet.  Yes for obvious reasons, like the fact that Dutch is here.  But honestly that isn't the whole reason.  We both have a closer relationship to Jesus this Christmas.  I am so proud of Dutch and to know this is how Mary felt about her little baby makes it so special.  Plus God loves each one of his babies more than we love Dutch.  How is that even possible.  Yes just like the song "a baby changes everything". My favorites like Away In A Manger and Silent Night mean something totally different to me this year.  Even All I Want For Christmas Is You by Vince Vance & the Valiants makes me tear up. Ha.  Well I'll cut this short before I bring the house down.  Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas.

Santa Pictures

I use to always tease my sister because it seemed her kids would get their pictures made with Santa a million times each Christmas.  Well guess who turned into her sister.

First up was pajama Santa pics in OCTOBER with cousins.

Then Aubie Claus

We found Auburn Santa and Mrs Claus at the Iron Bowl

Santa at Toomer's Corner

John Deere Santa

He also had his photo made with Santa at daycare but I don't have that one back yet, but this was before school that day.  So cute!

Dutch has been a very good boy this year.  I can't wait to see him open all of his gifts.  We have already had one Christmas and he was really into unwrapping the gifts so it should be fun.  Merry Merry!

Pasadena Bound!

I'm a little late on this post but still wanted to have it recorded on the blog.

Auburn is headed to the National Championship!!!  We still can't believe it and are so excited!  We gave up our tickets to the SEC Championship game to stay home with Dutch.  While I am sure the game was fun, this was perfect.

It was past Dutch's bedtime but he was still awake and we wanted to go roll Toomer's Corner.  We put his tiger outfit over his pj's and headed there.
We were stopped so many times with people wanting to take his picture or get their picture with him we didn't even make it all the way to the main wires.
But it was so fun and I'll always remember that, blurry pictures and all.

I fell asleep during the Ohio State/Michigan State game and Eric woke me up and told me that Ohio State lost and that AU was going to the National Championsip.  It was like a dream. ha.
We had an amazing time when we went to the National Championship game a few years ago.  That trip was before Dutch and I'm not sure I could leave him or make him tag along on a cross country flight.  So needless to say we decided not to go to Pasadena. Plus I could pretty much travel the world with the money we will have saved.
Regardless this has been a season to remember.  3-9 last year and headed to the National Championship this year!
Even though I only made it to 2 games this year, lots of Auburn memories were made.

Iron Bowl 2013

So unless you have been living under a rock you know that the Auburn vs Alabama game this year was huge, and that was before it was even played.  I may have been one of the people that doubted Auburn this year, but even the most loyal had no way of predicting that our season would turn out like this.  Not even ranked to now #3, SEC West Champs, playing for the SEC Championship this weekend.
If I can be honest I'm ready to move on from the Iron Bowl.  I've watched every clip of coverage from the View to every major news channel so I'm getting a little burned out, but I just can't help it.  Oh and the fact that Eric replays the last play over and over everyday. ha.  But with all that said it was amazing and I'll never forget that last second!

So onto pre-Iron Bowl fun that I have to post because these pics are too cute!
My niece was wanting to see Aubie so badly before the game.  So her best uncle made it happen on Friday.

Too bad an elephant photo bombed the photo!

So Saturday when the Iron Bowl rolled around we didn't really have a plan.  We had a ton of friends park and stop by our house on the way to the game.  I wish I had planned better and had a tailgate set up at the house but it is hard to do that kind of thing when there is so much going on during a holiday weekend.  Dutch and I did walk to campus to visit tailgates and he used his stroller without the car seat for the first time.  He thought he was so cool.  All that walking did him in and he was the cutest sleeping tiger around.

Dutch and I didn't go to the game but stayed home with my mother in law, niece and nephew.  And unless you have been living under a rock you know how the game ended.  I was balled up in the floor too afraid to watch then when we won I was acting like a fool and scared my nephew.  Once again I had to resort to yelling in the yard and we could hear the crowd at the stadium.  When I cam back inside I saw the field was being stormed.  Eric's worst nightmare, but since it was the last game he decided to have fun too and said they were acting like crazy grass men.  ha.

So there is a little damage but that night made it worth it.
Eric sent me this photo before the game on Saturday so proud.  Little did he know...

To see an interview about the damage click the link below.  They got Eric's name mixed up with a coworker but Eric is the one with the beard :)

Thanksgiving 2013

Well I think I'm being forced to wake up from my Thanksgiving / Iron Bowl coma.
We have had a wonderful past few days at our house.  Thanksgiving break kicked off early for us, last Monday thanks to Dutch having RSV.  Does this look like a sick baby to you?

Yeah me neither but by Thursday RSV caught up to him and he was wheezing really bad and wouldn't eat.  Thankfully the Dr was right and by Friday morning he was feeling much better.

Eric's family came in from Texas which was really fun.  They were more than happy to watch Dutch so I could cook our Thanksgiving meal.  Having a lot of food choices and a lot of leftovers freak me out so for me to be able to pull this off was pretty amazing.  Plus my house and kitchen are tiny so preparing a meal for 13 is no easy feat.

We had fried turkey, dressing, skillet corn, spinach and artichoke casserole, homemade mac and cheese, Arkansas green beans, sweet potato casserole and collards.
For dessert we had apple dumplings, German chocolate pecan bars, and hot fudge pie.

My sister and brother in law also ate with us and the men fried a turkey for the first time.  Eric spent a lot of time and effort getting a cable and power to the back porch so they thought they were hot stuff frying a turkey and watching tv around the fire pit.

The turkey was delicious and I'm pretty confident in saying this family will never bake another turkey.

I know this goes without saying but this year we are so thankful for Dutch and his health.  He was pretty puny on Thanksgiving so this was the best picture I got of him.  That boy, there isn't anything sweeter!

Hope you all had a great holiday and spent it with the ones you love most!

My fav shirt

So today I have to share my new favorite shirt in case you need a new favorite shirt.

My mom and I made a quick trip to Target Saturday before the AU/GA game and she picked up the shirt in navy.  I had to go back Sunday night and get the grey.  It is so comfy and can be dressed up or dressed down.  Today I wore it with a button up underneath and a big necklace.  Before leaving the house this morning I realized Dutch and I were both wearing grey and green.

I think I'm going to go back and get the navy.  It can be my "Auburn" shirt for this season.  Which by the way how amazing is Auburn this year 10-1?  Dutch got to roll Toomer's Corner for the first time after the Tennessee game.  We called our families and told them to watch on the TC webcam.  So fun.

This was Dutch's 20 week photo on Sunday.  Surprisingly this camo outfit is one of my favs on him, and add tiny little loafers.  Recipe for adorableness.

When Eric and I got married I made us "forever" stockings.  Well I don't really love them anymore and now with Dutch I wanted us sto all have matching stockings.  I started my search in September because I wanted to make sure they arrived in plenty of time to have monogrammed if needed.  I settled on these from Zulily. I can't decide if I want to get our names or monogram on them.  What do you think?

Since Zulily is a flash sale site, they are no longer avaialble but I am pretty sure the brand is Chooty and Co.  While I do love them, I've since realized that I was looking too early, retailiers are just starting to put out their holiday items and there are a lot more choices now.

Eric's mom makes everyone in the family the Bucilla felt stockings and my mom  makes everyone their own stocking.  I can only aspire to be that awesome and maybe one January I will start on making our homemade stockings.

I really like the idea of getting stockings and gifts off of etsy, love to support those small shops.  When I started my search there wasn't much variety but now there are tons of choices on etsy.
These are the other stockings that were in the running.

These burlap stockings from the etsy shop Holiday Home Decor.

Camp Kitschy Knits

Today on GroopDealz there is a great deal on monogram burlap stockings.
Another site that has a few cute options was Personal Creations.com.  I bought Dutch's Christmas PJ's from them and they are super cute.  Little butt flap that says Dutch's First Christmas, so cute!  Do you have forever stockings?

Easy Chicken Enchiladas

Several years ago one of our supper club friends introduced me to her Chicken Enchiladas.  After that it was over, these have been made millions of times for new babies, new houses and just good measure.  If you need something quick to take to a new mom or a friend that is moving try these out.  They also freeze well. Before Dutch was born and I was eating dairy (r.i.p. dairy) I would make a batch of these and individually wrap in saran wrap and freeze.  Put one in the fridge in the morning to thaw and warm up for lunch.  Perfect!

1TBS Butter
1 medium onion chopped
1 (4.5oz) can green chilies drained
1 (8oz) package of cream cheese, cut up
3 1/2 cups of boiled shredded chicken
8 8" tortillas
1 package of shredded fiesta cheese

Preheat oven to 350*
Melt butter and saute onion.  Add chilies and saute.
Stir in cream cheese and chicken.  Cook until cream cheese melts.
Put 3 TBS of chicken mixture in tortilla.
Place seam side down in greased 9x13 dish.
Bake until cheese melts.

(I wasn't sure when these would be eaten so I just sprinked cheese on, didn't bake)

Weekend Recap

Hey y'all!  How was your weekend?  The only bad thing about our's was that it ended.  But I've never been a fan of the fall time change.  This year it is even worse because a certain 4 month old is having a hard time adjusting.  I know it has only been 1 day and I need to give him time but I'm so worried that he will never sleep past 5 am again.  Any tips or suggestions that worked for you getting your babies adjusted to the time change?

Like I said we had a great weekend.  Saturday was Eric's birthday, he turned 38.  When we met he was turning 27 and I thought he was sooo old.  Time flies.  Anyway we started the day early with Dutch's 4 mo pictures.  By 9:30 we were finished with that.  When we got home I gathered some pretty leaves and plopped him down for a pic.  He was over the pics by then. :)

We just hung out the rest of the day.  We walked to Taco Bell for lunch, if you walk there that means it isn't bad for you.  Then the Auburn game came on and we went out to eat for Eric's birthday.   Yea Auburn won!  We are now 8-1 and hopefully will go to a good bowl game.
Dutch says Happy Birthday and War Eagle!

Yesterday evening we had supper at some friends super cute "shack" in the country.  It was so much fun to get together with everyone.

Sack races and bobbing for apples for the big kids.  Look at this beautiful scenery.

I always think Dutch looks old and big but he looks like such a baby in this picture.  Everybody's happy. ha!

All night I was so thankful for the group of friends we have.  Having a baby added to the crazy mix of kids is so fun.

I've wanted a silhouette photo for a long time. When Dutch and Eric were by the pond the light was perfect and I snapped this with my iphone.  I think my heart my explode.
