Anyway have you seen the hair ties made out of fold over elastic or FOE? They sell them in stores around here for like $3 a hair tie. I have jumbo thick hair so while they were really cute I wasn't sure if they would be able to hold my hair. I decided to find out I would just make my own, I could make 30 for the what 2 cost in the boutique.
I bought my FOE elastic from the etsy shop Elastic By The Yard the 10 yd multi pack was perfect because there were so many pretty colors to choose from. To make the hair ties you need fold over elastic (FOE from now on), ruler, scissors and a lighter
After you cut the FOE singe the edges with a lighter. My fav part, I love to burn things.
Tie a knot and you are finished! I didn't tie my knots very tight that way if the recipient of my hair tie needed it to be tighter they could easily take out the knot and adjust to their liking.
I used a cereal box to cut up and make little holders for my cards. I cut them 3"x5" and stamped them with my little $1 spot stamps.
Load them up and you are ready to give them out.
One of the cards o' hair ties may come to you. Just leave a comment and I will pick a winner Thursday at 8am est. If you enter please make sure your email is linked to your comments or you leave your email in your comments so I can get in touch with you.

Too cute!! I have super thick hair too. Everytime I click on your blog I fall back in love with your house. Sigh. I think we're not painting our brick now and that makes me sad. OH well...maybe winning hair ties will cheer me up?! Thanks girl! Hope you're feeling much better soon.
Get well soon! Love the hair ties and your blog...
You're a genius! Pinning you now!!
Those are so cute. I haven't seen hair ties like those!
I have several of these and I absolutely love them! I use theme every day!
Here is a tip - after a while they get kind of wonky and wrinkled. If you wash them with plain ol' handsoap, straighten them out and let them dry over night they go right back to how they started! :)
Love the colors you picked too!!
How cool! I've seen these a few times and wanted to see if it was worth all the buzz, but didn't want to spend the money if it wasn't. I'd love to win!
Totally have never seen these before. They're not headbands, right? I have super thin hair so maybe they won't work for me, but I do wear my hair up like every day. Glad you're back and hope you're feeling better. Missed ya!
so cute! I have heard great things about this kind of hair tie and would love to try them. Love, love your blog, Vanessa!
Thanks for coming back. Your blog is one of my favorites. I've never seen those hair ties but they sure are cute! And I would like to know what the surgery was for. Are you doing alright now?

They're so pretty! I've been curious about them. I have such thin hair I could probably wrap it around 9 times!

Love these! I am in love with the colors. I always have my hair back in a ponytail, or flipped, or in a bun and my ties don't all fit. These look like I could use them for all 3 of those things...but the colors...did I mention I love the colors. Thank you for sharing!!
Glad to see you back. Hope you are feeling better! Thanks for the Tutorial! I've been checking them out but like you said they are expensive, for a hair tie! I'm totally making these.

My daughter is so in love with this. I borrowed one last week and I lost it! I need to win so I can have my own. The orange looks like it would match come football time on the Plains!

Hope you are feeling better! I don't think those hair ties have made it out to California yet (and they say LA sets the trends?!) so you could start a revolution if I win!
I love the colors!!

where did you get those stamps? i am wanting to do this for the vbs teachers at my church!
Lori- I bought the stamps in the dollar spot at Target but if they don't have them there I've seen them at Hobby Lobby.
Please pick me! I'd put them to good use.
I'm a beginner at this type of thing, so coming across this blog was fantastic. All of my granddaughters have long hair. Thank you.
