Recent Recipes

Yesterday I saw a recipe online for homemade cinnamon rolls WITHOUT dairy!! (eric can't have dairy, not a lactose problem but a dairy enzyme problem so even lactose free doesn't work)

I had no idea how long it takes to work with yeast. I didn't let the dough rise like it should have because we were pushing 10 o'clock people - four hours after I had started and this lady was ready to go to bed.
I am not sure but maybe that is why they turned out more bready than flaky. I was a little disappointed but I am sure I will try to improve on my skills.

Never the less, all 36 cinnamon rolls or flat buns (?) have been eaten thanks to hungry coworkers!

I also made a couple of other good recipes last week for Supper Club at my hizzle.
First up is Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes. Just like Kat said they are from heaven! They taste divine and even better totally make ahead. I made them on Thursday night and then Friday heated them up. Just make sure you let your glass cooking dish warm up to roomish temperature before baking or your dish will break. The recipe makes a ton, I ate four servings...

sorry for the icky photo, food + artificial light + photos = not so great looking food

The other recipe to share is Pioneer Woman's Fresh Green Beans. The last time I made these we ate them the same night meh, but the next day they tasted so much better. So last week while the potatoes were boiling I made the green beans. I just warmed them up the next day in a skillet stovetop. So good!

And there you have it. A cinnamon roll recipe that will take forever to make but your husband will love you forever. A mashed potato recipe that is sooooo good and you can make the night before and you will be so happy you aren't rushing boiling potatoes when you should be getting ready for dinner guests to arrive. And a green bean recipe that you can make the night before while the potatoes are boiling.
Have a good weekend!

Dollar Spot Goodies

I get asked all the time where I get these little galvanized containers. The answer is the Target Dollar Spot. Bad news: they are seasonal. Good news: their season is now, I saw them at Target this week. I love using our little containers and have tons around the house holding all sorts of things.

Our Camilla bushes are out of control right now. They are lasting longer than usual as a cut flowers which has been lovely. I love the ruffle red ones and the pink and white stripe ones. If I would learn how to use my macro lens they would be even prettier.

Also in the dollar spot these cute galvanized plant labels.

Land's End Canvas

I am at that strange age for clothing where I can't really wear juniors clothes and then the adult clothes are a little too "mature" for my taste right now. As a 28 year old girl or woman or whatever on the fast track to 29 (eek!) I don't really want to be dressing like the college girls in town or moms (no offense to every mom I know, y'all dress cool).

A few weeks ago I was pointed in the way of Land's End Canvas Line. Perfect for gals my age. I haven't ordered anything yet but don't think I haven't made my list...

Pleated Pocket Skirt only $20 Sold to me!

I don't wear shorts so I live in dresses and skirts in the summer.

The search may be over! From the reviews it sounds like this may be THE white tee that isn't see through.

Henley Tank only $7!

I searched EVERYWHERE this winter looking for some suede heels that didn't have the small platform. Found!

Heritage Even Stripe Bikini $20 for both pieces!
And do you think those bottoms are Grandma or retro? Eric thinks grandma but I think they are cute. Plus they won't cut up all in my muffin top.

the reviews aren't great but I thought it is cute anyway.
I am pretty sure you can return Land's End clothing to Sears so no return shipping if a piece doesn't work out.

My new favorite and forever will be tee is

I have no shame and wore this shirt Friday night, Saturday and Sunday night. I will make no apologies because it is the most awesome shirt ever.
Thinish but thick enough to not see through so no cami, v neck not too low but low enough to make you feel good about yourself, long enough to cover my muffin top, fitted but not tight. This shirt would be flattering on any size woman! I think it was on sale for $10 when I bought mine. I am going to definitely get more as the weather gets warmer.
ps did you know it is 73 degrees here today! woot woot!

So Today,

something happened at my house and I had to take my Cam poster off my dining room wall :(

interior design school skills at their finest!

If you know me then you know something is up if my house looks like this. Good news though I didn't go crazy.

The breezeway looked like this...

claire was jealous

Before they left I had bought this rug from them and my table got some pretty flowers.

And my feet got some new kicks out of the deal.

Sorry to be a minx, but I am afraid I will jinx.

I am sure you will get your fill when my secret I will spill.

Cute Baby Alert

Did you know that chevron fabric and Auburn's colors got married and had a baby? Yep they did and isn't she adorable!!

Premiere Prints ZigZag Navy/Orange

I think it is the best "mash up" since the sun and chips got together and had Sun Chips - my current obsession.

For a little more toned down and still representing the AU love, I love this one - $5.58 yd!!!!!

And for months I've been thinking about this one for my dining room chairs. I won a $50 gift card to a fabric place but they don't carry this one so I am holding out.

Just like always we will stay in and eat spagetti tonight

Hope you have a great day with your Boo!

From Claire Belle

To Big Paw (aka Rhett) and Little Paw (aka Lulu)
Thank you for my Valentine Card that is really a bone!! I was so happy to get it in the mail yesterday. I never get mail...

Should I be offended that my Valentine says "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!"? Maybe but I am not because it describes me perfectly and I know it was meant in love.

So for now I am off to hide my new card/bone under the bed because I am sneaky like that.
ps. Please come visit me. We can all pile up on the couch and scratch it up and get dog hair everywhere and make mom mad. That would be so fun!

This weekend I am going to paint my doors. I am going to paint my doors. I am going to paint my doors.

But hopefully I will be able to squeeze in a little time for some Valentine's treats.

A Little Tip or 2...

I wore this little outfit.
the end.

so awkward to get pics

I bought the flannel gingham print shirt in the boys department at Target for $3.50 a couple of weeks ago. I wore it last week with a lavender corduroy skirt. Since I was the only person at work that day I thought I could get away with wearing it again this week.

For my "remix" I paired my new fav shirt with a green sweater. But you know how annoying it is when you wear a fitted sweater or shirt over a button up. Well I solved the little problem...

I wore a cami over my button up shirt. It smoothed out everything plus the buttons and the check pattern didn't show through the sweater. A cami over the button up may be an old trick but I just figured it out and I am so happy!

And for hair: I don't wash mine everyday, mostly every other day or sometimes I go another day after that. Add a little mousse to your roots before drying your hair. The mousse helps to keep the oil away from the roots. I always thought I couldn't skip a hair wash but I have trained my hair to give off less oil by washing it less. It is true, just ask the internet!

Good thing you stopped by today, now you know how to dress in boy clothes and not wash your hair! Your husband will love you forever after this.

This morning I had my coworker pick a number for the giveaway winner and he chose lucky #13 so that means congrats to

Lori K!

And better yet she use to live in Auburn!

Send me an email and I can get your info and I will get your book out to you.

Thanks for everyone that left a comment and entered!

Did yall watch the Super Bowl last night? We were with friends so I sort of watched. And honestly after going to the National Championship game, other big sporting events just don't seem so big to me. I'm like whatevs I was at the BCS NC game.

But I did enjoy the halftime show, I was entertained. But nothing will beat this Super Bowl half time show...

Anyone remember. It seems like my friends and I went to a concert almost every weekend in high school. And the best was Aerosmith. Loved them. I also saw N'sync in concert. lol.

Well I went to Target Tuesday night and bought my copy of Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. It was coming quiet the monsoon but I did get to wear my rain boots and rain jacket which I never get to wear. And we had to get this blanket for Claire Belle which she loves. Where's Waldo? Girlfriend just blends right in.

I did enjoy the book and it was a quick read. I would have finished it in one night but I couldn't stay up late because I had to wash my hair the next morning (early wake up call) so it took me 2 days to finish.

Black Heels to Tractor Wheels is a sweet story and if you read The Pioneer Woman blog it is written just like Ree writes her blog.
But it makes you want to move to a ranch and find a cowboy. My husband was born in Texas, has a pair of cowboy boots and likes the Dallas Cowboys so I guess that counts for me.

Yep Marlboro Man version 2.0 fo sure!

But one of the best things about the book is the cover, so pretty and orange!

Anyway since it is a love story and it is February and all that stuff I decided to give away a copy of Black Heels to Tractor Wheels or The Pioneer Woman Cooks. Whichever you prefer. Or if you rather an electronic reading device over the wonderful feel of paper book pages between your fingers, I will try to figure out how to buy that copy for you.

So just leave me a comment I will pick a winner Monday February 7th at 8am cst.

PS - And just because I am suppose to say it, PW is not giving me these books to give away. I am buying them with my own moolah. Yep that $20 fun money I get a week to do whatever I want to with, well I am spending it on one of you pretty things.

PSS - Pioneer Woman is doing a book signing in Atlanta March 11! So if anyone wants to take me - because I hate to drive in Atlanta let me know. But you need to have a baby to bring along because she loves babies!
