Thursday thru Sunday

I know most of you don't care, but I don't want to forget the last few days

Thursday:
First of all I survived my kitchen looking like this:

But I was happy when the mess turned into this:

My mom and I cooked Thanksgiving lunch but it turned into supper. Eric worked all day on the football field and his 20 minutes turned into 3 hours. We had to set up in the kitchen buffet style and we ate on the dining room table that my dad built for us. I was also able to use my china and crystal for the first time.

Claire had her 2 cousins over and they were plenty of help

After going to 3 different paper boxes we finally found a paper and planned our strategy for Friday morning

Thursday evening we went downtown to a pep rally and concert. Tyn Times played a fun show. I just looked at their schedule and they are playing Archie Manning's surprise party, hope Archie doesn't read this blog.

Friday:
Friday after we had been shopping all morning we went to the Auburn vs Alabama game. Our cold Thanksgiving lunch turned supper was all worth it when I came through the tunnel and saw Eric's field! Looked great!

Nova flew directly over us! This picture wasn't taken with any kind of zoom. (My seats are under the press box, not the upper deck) We could have jumped up and touched her.

My sister's family came Friday and even though they were wearing the wrong colors we let them stay, how could we resist that face. Baron is so cute, he was a ball of entertainment

Saturday:
Last night after a full day of shopping for the girls and hunting for the boys, we taught Brooks how to make smores. Yummy!

Sunday
We finished up the weekend with pictures and lunch at Toomer's Drugs.

This afternoon I cleaned my house and it is still clean and so quiet. We even took a nap, Claire has been sleeping all day she was so worn out. Now onto Christmas.........

Lily's Table Cloth

Does anyone watch How I Met Your Mother? It is one of my favorite shows. I love Barney even though he stands for everything I am not for. Anyway last night was Slapsgiving 2 which was hilarious. But the whole episode I could only concentrate on one thing, Lily's tablecloth.

Wait for it

.

.

Wait for it (you've got to watch the show to get it)

.
.

These were the best photos I could find on cbs.com. But it looks like a pleated green and beige silk. I love that it doesn't touch the floor, makes it just a little more casual. I don't have the patience to make one of these and I don't have the money to buy one. For now I will just admire it in Lily's house. Love her kitchen too.

The Blind Side

Over the weekend the stove hood didn't get built. It rained most of the weekend at my house and power tools + fiberboard + rain = nothing being built. But we did get to finish up a lot of small annoying projects and I am happy with that.

We went to see The Blind Side Saturday night and it was sold out. I am so glad we went again last night and were able to get a ticket. It was one of the best movies I've ever seen and I can't stop thinking about it today. My eyes are very swollen from crying so much. It has a great message and made me realize how I unintentionally treat others. Everyone hasn't had the life I've had, but everyone deserves a chance.

I loved when Tommy Tubberville came on screen, everyone cheered really loud.
Miss him.

And booed when Saban came on screen.

In the south this movie was heavily promoted. By having SEC schools, and real coaches playing themselves it was a sure sell in the south. Several showings were sold out in Auburn over the weekend. I'm not sure if it is promoted in your area of the country, but go see it if it isn't, and after your home look up all of those great schools!

Oh and Eric said they don't store dead body parts under Neyland Stadium, but I'm not so sure....

This Weekend

is going to be another busy one

hopefully we are going to turn our stove hood from this

To this using this tutorial

But that is nothing compared to our other plans..........

or

who will win?

will we even get tickets?

will I want to marry Edward?

will I cry the whole time during The Blind Side (the previews get me every time)?

will Eric cry when he sees Tommy Tubberville on screen during The Blind Side?

why did they have to put these movies out on the same weekend?

Breezeway Floor

November has been another list month. Not as crazy as May's list, but we are trying to wrap up a few projects before the end of the year, so we can start a new list of course.

One of the projects on the list was the breezeway floor. Before it was an ugly shade of painted red concrete. This is the best before picture I have, it was from the first time we looked at the house in 2008.

Some of the paint was peeling so before we could lay the tile we had to scrap all of the paint off. Not so fun.

We thought about using the brick that we used in the kitchen for the floor, but the tile we used was free. My boss decided he was in a throwing out mood last week at work, so I was able to get the tile before it got tossed into the dumpster.

I think I like the way it works with the wall color. I don't plan on repainting the brick walls so it will just have to make do, welcome to the brown room. But good news Elizabeth, my burlap curtains look terrible in there, so Happy Birthday!

Here is the finished product. It took us a little longer than expected because of the pattern and size of the tile, but it was an overall quick project compared to the other projects we have done in the house. We are wanting to put up a baseboard to break up the browns, but aren't sure how to attach it. Does anyone know how to attach a baseboard to a brick wall?

One tip that I have and it is a huge one: Don't skimp on the thinset. Trust me on this one. in our old house we just bought the $6 bag of thinset from Home Deopt. DON'T DO IT!!!!! A few days later we had to take the tile up because there was no adhesion and our grout started to crack. Spend the extra $$ and get a good thinset. Also read the back of the bag to see if you need modified or unmodified thinset and if it will work for your tile. It will be the best money you've ever spent. Also don't use your thinset if it is too wet.
Also make sure when cleaning up the tile not to get the grout too wet. I am so neurotic after the nightmare of the kitchen brick floor and the grout with it that I wiped down the grout 3 times and got the grout too wet. As a result it dried about 4 shades too light. I will use grout stain sometime to darken it up, so no big deal.

Wrap Idea

I am at that age where 4 out of 5 people are expecting a baby, with me being the one that is not. So Saturday I went to a baby shower, which is becoming a common event on my schedule.
I've had this gift ready for about a month now, it just needed to be wrapped.

The bag is a reusable shopping bag. I picked it up in the Christmas section at Walmart. I thought it was adorable and a great alternative to a paper gift bag. Plus it was cheaper than the regular gift bags. I am really hoping there are a lot of these left over on clearance after Christmas.

Cake Pop Cuteness

I am about to cry because these are so cute.
Bakerella has great instructions on her blog on how to make these. Even with those instructions, I am sure I would fail. Cute baking is one crafty thing that I haven't mastered and don't think I ever will.
I remember a Sesame Street book being one of the first books I could "read" or memorize. I don't remember the title but it was about Burt & Ernie. I look for that book every time I go to the thrift store, but I am sure my parents still have it, buried in the tons of children's books they have.

Need Answers

Sunday about 4 seconds before dark, Eric & I went out to the farm to snap a few pictures. I had just purchased a remote for my camera and it is the best ever. It makes snapping photos of yourself so easy.

These next 3 pictures are my favorite. We wish that our little Claire Belle was in the picture, but she was too excited to be looking at the camera. Besides how do you get a dog to look at a camera without anyone behind it?

Eric doesn't like that I'm not smiling in this one, so it is probably out

Question 1.
Which one should I get made into a photo canvas? or none of the above

Question 2.
Should Eric wear a different shirt? I don't know if it is too white?
if it is we can retake

As you can see from the picture, we would go in the green frame. But Eric thinks we should go in the gold one, or at least be in that area of the wall. The picture isn't where it can go vertical, but we could go take another one if we needed to.

Question 3.

Should we use the gold frame instead or put the green frame where the gold frame is?

If we left everything as it is now, I am thinking about putting a chalkboard in the gold frame. This is where I do my sewing and I could put my list of things to make on the chalkboard.

Above the gold frame I am wanting to put a little poster with a cute quote or something. I found several on etsy that I like. I could get one of them but I also thought of enlarging a passage from the Bible, my favorite The Proverbs Wife, or a page from my favorite book.

Live What You Love

You Are All I Need

House of Wisdom

Only Hope - My favorite. I love this one because I love that verse, but the letters also look like they are stitched which would be great since this is my sewing area.

Question 4.

Which one do you think would work best for my space, even if you think they are all heinous?

And because we feel bad about Claire being too out of control to be in the family picture....

Ok people you have 4 questions to answer!

Is It Worth

$27.95 to find out what Claire is up to all day?

I really want to buy this camera to put on her collar. Eric seriously asked if it had a flash so we could see what is in the holes she digs. Knowing my luck the camera would be full of pictures of the bed or chair in the window since she hangs out in those two places all day. Or does she.....

What Is

the best way to loose a few inches in under an hour?
Get a haircut! Yesterday I had my hair cut for the first time in a year. I believe it was the longest I have ever had it. I instantly lost 4 inches and feel a lot lighter.

Claire wanted in on the action...

Give me some smooches...

It must be tiring to be a dog and sleep all day

actually Eric just walked in the door for lunch and she yawns when she gets excited.

I am still trying to grow my hair out for Locks of Love, but after not being in the presence of scissors for a year, my hair was nasty. Maybe this time next year I will be able to donate my hair.
