Happy Halloween

Never trust a smiling vampire
Happy Early Halloween. I won't be around tomorrow. AU has an early game and the theme is "Navy Nightmare" which it may turn out to be just that. Auburn had their trick or treat last night and I've already been to a Halloween party, so it seems Halloween may be over for me. But we will still have our traditional Halloween chili Saturday night.
I've been having a little too much fun on picnik.com this week. Go turn a picture of yourself into something spooky.

Introducing...

Juno & Bleeker
As you can tell we did go as Juno & Bleeker this year for Halloween. It was a gametime decision but worked out great. I did come to the conclusion that I did not enjoy being fake pregnant, so I probably wouldn't enjoy being real pregnant. So I guess that can be pushed back a few more years. Phew!

Cactus and Senior Nacho. They won best costume. The cactus was a sweatsuit with weed eater string hot glued all to it. Genius.

And I bet you didn't know that Amelia Earhart and Jack Bauer are engaged.

Our hosts, a Greek Goddess and her Roman Solider

As you can tell from the pictures Hannah's house was all decked out for the party. They had spider webs EVERYWHERE. She even changed out her art for some scary pictures. It was great. Unfortunately this is the only picture of the decorations I have, the food table. What else would you expect from a fake pregnant woman.

Can't wait until next year, I've already got our costumes planned.

Halloween Food

I love to cook for a theme. Soooo Halloween is especially fun for me to get to go a little crazy with food. If we ever have kids it will be so fun to make these themey foods, but for now I'll torture Eric. Last week when we were at Byron's BBQ I drew skeleton and jack-o-lantern faces on his fried potato slices with ketchup, he really loved that.

Here are some of my favorite Halloween recipes

I also made these for the party last weekend. I used Kale to make them appear to be pumpkins in a pumpkin patch.

Monday night I turned our crescent rolls into witches hats.

Last night we had "Dinner At Twilight". Which was really just steaks, but I couldn't think of a Halloween name and the Cullen's, in the book Twilight (for all of those that live under a rock), only eat animals not humans so Eric thought to call it "Dinner At Twilight". That and he put a dimmer on the dining room light yesterday, so we put in on low like Twilight. Tonight we are having "Goblin Brains & Eyeballs" (spaghetti), Thursday we are having "Shredded Flesh" (pulled pork), and Friday we are having Mummy Hot dogs.

And to me it wouldn't be Halloween with out
Chili no matter how hot an Alabama Halloween is.

Happy Eating!

Cute Costumes

Costumes are another thing I love about Halloween.
If I ever have kids I really want to make their costumes.
But if I don't here are the cutest store bought costumes around.

Oh yes, I know every word to Grease and have my own Pink Ladies jacket, made by my mom

Piggy this would be so easy to make out of a bath mat dyed pink.

Pumpkin

we had a costume just like this but it was handmade

Hedgehog - no longer available

This would be so easy to make

Cupcake Costume - Pottery Barn I think

And my favorite little trick or treaters. I don't think I've ever seen a cuter cowboy and pony

Halloween Week!

One of my favorite things about any holiday is getting to decorate. When I lived at home we went all out at my parents house. Decorating was a huge deal to me and I was the one in charge. I still have many of my Halloween magazines and still look for ideas.

Now I think I may be a little burned out, that and I donated a lot of my Halloween/Fall decorations to the Jr League Rummage Sale in the spring. What was I thinking, it must have been the combo of packing to move + having to meet a monetary requirement for the league.

So needless to say I need to build up my collection or just go raid my parent's attic.

We made these Southern Living topiaries one year at my parents' house and they were adorable!

Here are some other adorable ideas from Good Housekeeping

I LOVE of pumpkins. If I could afford it I would have tons. All shapes, sizes and colors.

Love the skeleton!

Great tablescape

I love Martha's tissue pom poms and think an orange one added in would be great. Here is a great tutorial to make your own.

Next year we are planning on growing pumpkins and I am fully expecting to make my house look like this......

One fall we grew mini gourds and had a lot of success so hopefully pumpkins will be the same?

One of my favorite websites to check everyday is One Pretty Thing. They are especially great to check out during the holidays. Tons of ideas.
Another great site is Women's Day for Halloween Ideas, they have some adorable carving ideas.

Published

I've always dreamed of being published. So today I found out some of my very awesome art was published. It may not be Cottage Living or Southern Living, but Ag Illustrated is a great start....

Click here for the article. I'm on page 4, but page 1 also has something special to look at.

Last Night's Project

Last night I made another pair of Sophie pants. I had already used this pattern once before for my niece's birthday gift and loved it. If you are looking for a good, quick beginner pattern try this one.
In the picture it looks like the legs aren't the same length, but they are! My friend Hannah is going to embroider an adorable cheerleader on a shirt to match for a special little pirate.

I also spent a lot of Sunday sewing. I had several Paisley Jane orders, some Christmas and baby gifts. I made these next two sets for an auction.

My Favorite Tray

Yesterday I took a quick trip to the antique store while Eric went back up to the stadium to do some work.
While I was there I picked up this cute tray for only $2. There were several more that I am now wishing I picked up. I don't think they had ever been used because they were all in perfect condition with the original craft paper used as a separation.

I love the colors & print!

I may be making a trip back to the antique store after work to pick up my tray's friends.

I also bought Christmas table cloth for $3.75 and plant holder thingy for only $9.

Bow season just started here so Eric will be no where in sight until dark for the next few days, weeks & months. If he supports his hobbies, I must support my as well.

Suggestions

quick like...

Eric & I have a costume party to go to on the 24th. I thought I had our costumes figured out Juno & Bleeker from the movie Juno

But now I don't know if I want to dress up as a pregnant person if I'm not pregnant. How fun will it be to dress up as a pregnant person?

But one reason I was going for the costume is it would be easy for Eric but still good. But rest assured he won't be wearing shorts that short.

So what else could we be? I don't really want to buy something. Most anything for sale is extra trashy anyway, but I need something quick to make.

I thought about a witch but what would Eric be? Then I thought about maybe Bonnie & Clyde or Charlie Brown & Lucy. I could make a Lucy dress and a Charlie Brown shirt would be pretty simple.

Or I guess we could always be hobos. What person didn't use that costume at least once as a kid? So give me your suggestions please!!

Toy Story 3D

Over the weekend my sister and I met my other sister and her boys to watch Toy Story in 3D. It was fun watching it in 3D, but there wasn't anything spectacular. Nothing jumping out of the screen at you, everything was just....3D.
They did show the previews for A Christmas Carol and it was awesome because it looked like it was snowing in the theatre. I may have to save my 3D glasses for it.

How awesome are the 3D glasses they give out now days?
