Palette Generator

I really love the colors in this vintage canned peas label. I have a similar color pallet with my bedding in my guest room and come to think about it my master bedroom as well.

Up until just now I was wishing I could use this color pallet in my sewing room/breezeway, but it is open to our living room and the only thing they have in common would be the red color. But now since I realized I have bedding in my bedroom these colors, I can put that wish on hold!

Anyway I found this realllly neat program on bighugelabs.com. It is called palette generator and all you do is upload a photograph and it will create a "harmonious color palette for you". It is great for decorating, pulling together outfits, or even wedding colors from a favorite inspiration photo.
I've had a lot of fun playing with different pictures. But I haven't' figured out how to show my results on the blog, and I can't get it to save to links. I guess you will just have to take my word for it and try it yourself. Click on the colored words and it will take you to the site.

Back to the real world. Yesterday we got back home from our weekend at the beach.
We didn't leave to go down to the beach until after work on Thursday. So once we got there we didn't really feel like dressing up, or even changing from our running shorts and tshirts (embarrassing I know), so we just walked next door to Pineapple Willy's. We really go all out for these types of occasions can't you tell.

No, we aren't gangstas, but we were holding up 4s for 4 years of marriage.

It was fun times all around. The water was perfect the first day, the second day the algae started to come in, but the waves were good, same thing the next day.

I am still suffering from the worst sunburn of my life. I was wearing 50 spf and sitting under an umbrella, but I guess the sun reflected off the sand onto me. Needless to say I was miserable, still am. My ear and lips were swollen and my legs were swollen so I had cankles. Unfortunately no pictures!

I walked out of my parents house and saw my groom.

And he saw his bride

Then we went to the church and got hitched. We walked out to This Will Be and did a little spin move. Everyone else followed suite and danced down the aisle!

Afterwards we were so happy!

Happy 4 years E! xoxoxxoooo

Outside my window... an outdoor dining set picked up off the side of the road yesterday, yard and table to be worked on after we get back from the beach :)

I am thinking... about all that needs to be done tonight to get ready for the beach tomorrow

I am thankful... that tomorrow we will celebrate 4 years of wedded bliss, by going to the beach.
At the beach in the Dominican Republic on our honeymoon

From the kitchen... chicken and pasta with red wine vinegar sauce, best part it was made last night so it could marinade all day, while we get ready for the beach. Recipe here

I am wearing... the first dress I ever sewed for myself, so I could wear it to the beach in 2007

I wore this dress at the beach, Tybee Island, GA 2007

I am creating... a outfit for my nephew, still not finished with this thing, maybe I'll smock it at the beach

Baron at the beach 2008

I am going... to make this tonight snack on at the beach

I'm reading... Breaking Dawn, almost done, I'll finish it at the beach

not my feet

I am hoping... we get to the beach in time to eat out tomorrow night for our anniversary

I am hearing... nothing much, it is pretty quite around here today, dreaming of hearing the waves at the beach

Around the house...there are tools and counter tops wherever we can put them waiting to be stained and sealed-after we get back from the beach

going to cut the hole for the undermount sink tonight, the finished stain color on the right

One of my favorite things... lately I have been enjoying taking Claire for a walk just before dark- to get ready for the beach.

A few plans for the rest of the week... relax, lay out, swim in the ocean and do nothing at the beach

A picture to share...

oh did I mention I'm going to the beach

Yesterday I went to the best store in the world, Resurrect. I wasn't prepared for all of the wonderfulness that it offered. This store has tons of old chippy rusty furniture, accessories and salvage parts. My dream store!

I loved this old glider. It didn't have a price. There were tons of items like this outside along with old cattle troughs, bathtubs, sinks, columns, salvage items everything you could think of peeling and all rusty

Aren't these chippy Christmas trees the cutest?

Loved this planter made from barn wood and barn tin planted with Creeping Jenny

Stone planter with Creeping Jenny and varigated Ivy

Loved this table outside made from old beadboard. Most of the items outisde didn't have prices. See the chippy green and white chair beside it.

Coffee table made out of old beadboard I think it was $150

I really wish this table base was about 2 feet longer and I would have bought it for my dining room table, E still hasn't made mine yet. And don't you love the old desk drawers sitting on the floor.

This low dresser is so adorable and it has wheels, priced at only $150. It would look adorable in a little girls room or it could be used to hold a tv.
Coffee table made from a factory cart. I think it was priced at $450, much cheaper than the one from Restoration Hardware priced at $910. And gotta love the dough bowl with lotto balls.

And saving the best for last, a burlap covered settee!!!!!!!! I thought this was so beautiful. It didn't have a price on it so they may be using it for display only, but I would love to see it in my home.
If you are ever in Opelika or Auburn you have to stop by this store. It will be worth your time just to see all of the eye candy. They are located 1 block off of I-85 at exit 62, right beside Angel's Antiques. They are open every day except Wednesday and Thursday.

Yesterday when I came home from work we had irrigation! Eric was so excited he wanted me to take his picture for the blog. He has never even read my blog!
He and one of his employees have been installing the irrigation everyday this week after work. Even at 4 when they start it is still 98 degrees outside so he was really happy to have this project out of the way.

After I took his picture, I left for Supper Club. Heather made her famous chicken and dumplings, peas, tomatoes and cucumbers, corn on the cob, biscuits with cane syrup and home made ice cream. The meal was so delicious and reminded me of home since I don't cook like that.
After we ate, we played baby dolls with Calleigh and Lilly. Brigitte had finished making their outfits so we had a little fashion show. It was so fun playing with the babies and we had lots of laughs trying to get the girls' attention.

The things we will do for entertainment. But don't they look too cute!

Smocking on etsy

As some of you know I love to sew and smock children's clothes, even though I have no children of my own. Sewing can be time consuming and sometimes hard. Over the past year, I have gotten better, but my picture smocking still has a long way to grow. If I sold the clothes that I handmade and hand smocked, they would be crazy expensive because it just takes time and brain activity.
So I was shocked when I found this etsy store. It is called The Classic Baby. The owner makes adorable children's clothes for a very reasonable price. The picture smocking is adorable and it looks great. If you have children and want something special without paying $90 for a smocked bishop or jon jon check this store out.

Love this Whale Jon Jon. It is only $45! The smocking looks great and I love the old style jon jon.

This girls Frog Mary De is adorable and only $45! Mary De's aren't the quickest dresses to sew and look how big those 3 smocked frogs are!

Love the red gingham with the Sailboats Jon Jon.

Love the fabric for the Hoot Owl A-line.

I also love this lemon a-line dress.

Five Guys

This past weekend my parents came to visit and help us with our house. They got to Auburn Friday in time for supper so we went to the new Five Guys down town. Earlier in the week one of Eric's employees had told him it was the best burger he had ever eaten, so we had to see for ourselves.
The girls got the Little Hamburger - only 1 patty, and the guys got the Hamburger - 2 patties.

As you can see from Angie's demonstration the Little Hamburgers were big enough.
Each couple shared a large fry, which were served in these cups and there were tons of fries in the bottom of the bags.

While it was a good burger, I can't say it was the best ever. I didn't think it was better than a homemade hamburger. I like my hamburgers juicy (like made with 80/20 meat) and this had very little juice. The fries were really good and fresh. There was also an unlimited supply of peanuts and they were pretty good. They do serve you a lot of food for a good price so that is a plus.

They made a mistake and added a hot dog to our order and told us to keep it. It was the best hot dog I have ever eaten. It had onions, jalapenos, green peppers, mustard and best of all a moist bun. We were so stuffed and didn't eat it all, but the few bites were delicious. If I do go back I am getting the hot dog instead of the hamburger!

Happy Birthday Mother!

Today is my Mother's birthday!

My parents at the Eagles concert May 2007

My parents were visiting this past weekend and we had a really good time. Usually we escape and go to the antique store, but it was all work (mostly for the boys) this time. My mom has always been a hard worker, doing what she needs to do to get the job done. I would like to think that I got that trait. She is also a very creative woman, always coming up with something neat to do and I would like to think I received that from her also.

But best of all she is a really good mother. Interested, but not overbearing which is really nice. She is also a good Meme, I don't have anyone for her to be a Meme to, but if I ever do she will be ready!

When we were at Walmart Saturday, she saw this car, just like the one she use to have but her brother wrecked. So I made her pose beside it.

Wish this blog was of the scratch n' sniff variety. And by the end of this post, you will too.
This is my gardenia bush in the backyard. It is about 6 feet tall and 10 feet around.

The flowers aren't those dinky ones that grow on some varieties of gardenia bushes, no these babies are about 4 inches of all around good smells.

See they are so heavy the branches need to be staked.

These bushes are all over the neighborhood. Every night after it cools off Eric goes into the yard and I play in the street with our 10 year old neighbor. Lately badminton has been the game of choice. The whole time you can just smell the gardenias and it reminds me of summer nights.
