Hook Em Horns

Can you guess where I was.....

It snowed all morning and I wanted to go out and get some pictures of some TEXAS longhorns. We hit the jackpot.
This little guy (compared to the others) was all alone until the others herd (get it) us coming

Then they all started to come thinking we had food

I love cows and this little white one stole my heart. Look at the eye contact.

No zoom, I was a little nervous!

I wish the white one would have fit in the truck for the ride home back to Alabama. He could live in our back yard until he grew up and then live at the farm. I would name him Snow Ball and tie a big bell around his neck!

Then Oreo Milkshake as I named him decided to find out why we weren't feeding them.

So I decided to give him a piece of grass

I wish we had smuggled my nephew into our suit case on this trip - snow, Texas, "real Texas" cowboys and longhorns would be more than he could handle!

I propped the camera on a snow covered bale of hay so we could both get a picture

Back at the house the snowflakes were the size of a quarter!

Christmas Part 1

Christmas has come and gone. Pretty soon it will be the 4th of July, crazy to say but true. We headed to my parents house last week to celebrate.
I love the way their house looks all lit up for Christmas.

Christmas Eve we went to watch The Squeakquel, it was really cute.

This photo was snapped right before my nephews went home to wait for Santa. Brooks was getting ancy once my cousin received an email from Santa.

Christmas morning my sister came into my bedroom and said look out your window! I jumped up, looked out, and screamed! It was snowing hard. By the time I got dressed, it had stopped but it snowed on and off through out the morning. Here is the proof, you may have to squint!

Then we loaded up and went to check out what Santa brought the boys. Brooks wanted a real BB gun. "I mean a REAL BB gun" as he would say..

And Baron asked for a motorcycle police. How cute!

Even after Brooks got tons of gifts, his favorite was a lock in his stocking at my parent's house. As you can see he loves to tie up anything in their house. He told me he is "all about ropes".

Me and my dad before we went to my Nana's house...

Baron trying on the longalls I made him and looking for snow outside with Claire Belle.

We taught Brooks Hook Em Horns! We usually aren't Texas fans, but Alabama is playing them for the National Championship, and Eric's sister goes to UT.

And that is is for Christmas in Alabama. Up next Christmas in Texas.

Smores Tree

I've mentioned 476 times that we didn't put up our real tree this Christmas. But we did put up our Smores tree. Eric and I stared to collect Smores ornaments the first Christmas we were dating all the way back in 2003.

We probably have over 100 of the cute little guys. But our 2 favorites are this little lawn mowing smore and the designer smore. Could they be any smore perfect for a athletic field lawn mowing husband and an interior designer wife?

And some things never change like Claire begging for her gifts....

Since there isn't too much going on this week we can talk about my wreaths...

Wreaths - love them. As I previously mentioned I didn't plan on making fresh wreaths for all of our front windows. But I HAD to make sure we at least had a live wreath on our front door. You know so every time the door is open the needles shed inside the house.

This is the wreath I made for the door. I just used one of my grapevine wreaths and Christmas tree scraps secured by floral wire. I threw in some fresh magnolia and holly for a little something extra. I wish I had noticed my main magnolia leave is half missing before I wired it on, so make sure you check all of the leaves.

I was going to wait until after Christmas to stock up on artificial wreaths, but these wreaths were at Hobby Lobby for only 4 bucks so I bought enough for the front of the house. I couldn't leave them plain so I added the fresh magnolia and holly to them.

And all of the wreaths on the house.

Maybe next year our shrubs will be large enough to hold some lights and I'll put a real tree in the breezeway windows.

Different kind of tree

This little gem of a tree just showed up in my inbox.....

A custom Christmas tree made from Gatorade cups by Auburn's very own skilled turf crew. I guess you get creative and crafty when you do outside work and it rains every day!

Dirty Santa

Over the weekend I was in Walmart looking for a coffee maker when I got distracted by their holiday dish isle.

There were some great things for $5 and several great things under $10. How many parties do you go to that have a $5 or $10 Dirty Santa gift limit?

First up they had a collection of white dishes and serving pieces. I loved the dot detail on the rim of the pieces.

They had a large platter, large serving bowl, gravy boat, plates, bowls and mugs. And they were all $5.

They also had the matching dinnerware 4 pieces for $5.

These extra soft fleece throws make great little gifts and they are only $5 as well. I have a few of these and they wash up great. Most of the really cute patterns were sold out but they had some great solids as well.

For $9 I loved their holiday baking dishes.

These ramekins are so adorable

With a lid!

Love these loaf pans

I also saw plate chargers in gold, silver or red 4/$5. And you know the little dishes you had when you were a kid that had the snow and water between the layers of plastic, they had those too!

Remember last week when I posted this picture of Claire and called her Elf Snowball because of her beautiful white fur......

well this is what she looked last night when she came inside after playing in the rain....

That isn't dirt, it is tar! The old owners left a roll of tar paper outside our shed and there was a chipmunk inside the roll. She tried to catch it for about 2 hours and this is how she ended up looking. We panicked thinking she would look like this for weeks, but then Eric remembered Dawn is used to clean up after oil spills so she had a Dawn bath. She is mostly back to normal now.

Also did anyone notice Marshall's shirt on How I Met Your Mother last night? He was wearing was a really cool Auburn shirt. I've never seen that shirt before and where I live any Auburn shirt can be found.

As Barney would say Awesome, as we would say Ausome!

Oreo Truffles

Three years ago I found a recipe from kraft for Oreo Truffles, and my life was forever changed. Oreo Truffles are so rich and wonderful combining 2 of my favorite things, Oreos and chocolate.
Eric can't eat them so I usually make a batch, eat a few and send the rest to his employees. They requested I make them Oreo Truffles for one of their "jam sessions" they had this past weekend so my Saturday began in the kitchen....

Here is what you need:

1 package of Oreos

1 80z block of cream cheese

2 8 oz Bakers semi sweet chocolate squares or chocolate chips

*Crush 4 cookies into fine crumbs in a processor or mini chopper, set aside. Crush the remaining cookies in the processor.
The first time I made these I didn't have a processor so I just broke the cookies up, placed

them in a ziploc bag and crushed with a rolling pin.

*Mix the crumbs with the block of cream cheese until all is well blended.

*After the crumbs and cream cheese are mixed, roll the mixture into small balls. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.

*Melt chocolate in a double boiler or microwave. I don't have a double boiler so I made my own - I usually burn chocolate in the microwave. Roll the balls into the melted chocolate. I found that the easiest way to do this is with 2 forks.

*While the chocolate is still wet sprinkle with the set aside crumbs. Make sure to take the blade out of the mini chopper before sticking your hand in to get the crumbs. Ask me how I know.

Refrigerate and enjoy!

The recipe made 36 truffles.

P.S. I also made the Monster Cookies over the weekend. I should have used Christmas M&M's but they turned out great! The recipe made 26 cookies with dough rolled the size of a giant golf ball. Since they were so big, I had to cook them longer than the recipe called for.
